Star Wars #79

The cover gives us no warning that this is assistant editors' month. The reason for that is that is doesn't contain anything concerning it other than a one page gag at the end. The story itself was pretty decent with awesome artwork by Ron Frenz and Tom Palmer dealing with Lando and Chewbacca trying to find out where Han Solo has been taken. This comic must have come out some time between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Lots of fun interaction with those two in a story that fits in nicely between the movies. And Lando's disguise is great as he looks like Storm with a moustache and an eye patch.

The one page gag deals what I am assuming is the assistant editor demonstrating how to make your own Darth Vader costume. He uses an old mattress with a hole cut out for your head and slits for your arms, a bucket, a cut up soda can, a diving mask, headlights, old black blankets, a spare seatbelt, milk crates tied to your feet for height, arc welder's gloves and a hot-wired fluorescent bulb for a lightsaber. Yes, it looks as silly as it sounds. I think Darth Tater looks more like Vader than this does. And just when you thought it could not get more ridiculous, George Lucas shows up to show his disappointment in the costume while the editor is scared out of his costume. Well, at least I think he was scared. He screams and his jaw hits the floor as all those previously mentioned items fly off.
